Statement from Keith Ellison on Supreme Court Ruling Against Workers’ Right to Organize

MINNESOTA – Keith Ellison today released the following statement on the United States Supreme Court’s ruling in Janus v. AFSCME, which undermines workers’ right to form unions to improve the wellbeing of themselves, their families, and their communities.
“Make no mistake – today’s Supreme Court ruling is a massive victory for the wealthy donors and corporate special interests who have poured billions of dollars into eroding workers’ rights throughout our country. But we know this is not the end – those same corporate interests are targeting states across the country, including our strong union tradition here in Minnesota.
“Across the border in Wisconsin, we have seen what happens when wealthy corporate interests trample the rights of working people. We cannot let that happen here. That’s why I am running to be the People’s Lawyer as Minnesota Attorney General – to protect and defend the rights of working Minnesotans and their families against the special interests of the rich and powerful, to ensure our state is one where working people can continue to thrive.”
