MINNESOTA – Vice President Walter Mondale today endorsed Congressman Keith Ellison to be Minnesota’s next Attorney General. In addition to serving as Vice President and United States Senator throughout his distinguished career, Mondale previously served Minnesotans as Attorney General in the 1960s.
“I am pleased to endorse Keith Ellison to be Minnesota’s next Attorney General,” said Vice President Mondale. “As a former Minnesota Attorney General, I know how crucial this office is and I know Keith will serve the cause of justice for all Minnesotans in this critical time. His 16 years as a civil rights attorney, along with his strong record defending consumer and worker rights in Congress, make him the most qualified candidate for this important public office. With Keith as our Attorney General, Minnesotans will always have a proven fighter on our side, to defend the rights and freedoms of all – even if the federal government does not.”
“It is an incredible honor to earn the support of Vice President Mondale,” said Ellison. “During his career of service to Minnesotans, and all Americans, Vice President Mondale has modeled what principled, progressive leadership looks like in defending the rights and liberties of all. As your next Attorney General, I will strive to follow his example of what a People’s Lawyer can be.”
